Event Recap October 25, 2003 - Just under 35,000 spectators lined the Embarcadero as thirty-three teams of fearless fliers launched home-made flying machines into the San Francisco Bay. Crafts ranged from a giant-sized Da Mayor's Pimp Hat in honor of Willie Brown (compliments of the only all girl team), an enormous Bug represented by Bug Juice and of course flying chickens, bulls and snowmen. But it was last year's champions who swept into victory with the final flight of the day. Team El Toro Guapo, weighing in this year with their craft Medieval Missile, launched a whopping 61 feet! "Time stopped, frozen for two seconds, and when I launched I was lost in flight - and then I hit the water," said Pilot Sean Humbert.
After driving ten hours, spending weeks building and time lost in translation, team Oregon Wagoner STOL took home 2nd place. The covered wagon worked as a stage for the mini plane located in the craft. Making their way down the flight path, the canopy of the wagon took a nose dive while the captain held on for the flight. "Building something, planning it out and seeing it come together, it was almost unreal" said Ryan Stowassier of team STOL.

Third place winners, Running of the Red Bulls, promised to return next time after experiencing "Pure exhilaration from the moment we came up to the ramp to the moment we landed," exclaimed pilot Brian Bennett. The giant bull with smoke blowing out of his nostrils served as a platform for the team members' gymnastic abilities. But it was the creative style of Snoop's Dog House that took home the coveted award of Most Creative. "We had the whole package," bragged Snoopy, we mean, pilot Michael Heintz.
